Billing and plans — Free, the tiers, and what happens as you grow

Every plan — Free included — contains all templates, Klaviyo sync and rewards, unique codes applied in the cart, and revenue attribution per popup. The one exception is the Smart Trigger: it needs a paid plan, from Basic up. Otherwise the plan depends only on your number of visitors. Billing runs through Shopify.

Free

  • Free, no subscription. Installing, building popups and publishing work without a plan.
  • One limit: 5,000 unique visitors per billing window (without a subscription: the calendar month).
  • From about 4,000 visitors, a banner warns you: You're approaching your Free limit.
  • Above 5,000, PopUplift pauses delivery of your popups automatically and shows You've exceeded your Free limit. Nothing is deleted.
  • As soon as a paid plan is active — or next month's visitors stay below 5,000 again — exactly the paused popups run again. You don't need to publish anything again.

There is no automatic charge: Free only becomes a paid plan through your explicit click.

The paid tiers

A new subscription starts with a 14-day trial. Switching plans doesn't extend or renew it: if you switch during the trial, only the remaining days carry over; after that there is no new one. Shopify shows the exact price in your billing currency before you approve. For more than 750,000 visitors, get in touch.

Choosing the right plan

Settings → Plan & usage or any upgrade banner opens the plan picker. A slider, Unique visitors per 30 days, suggests the smallest tier that fits. Where possible it starts with the visitor count Shopify reports for your shop over the last 30 complete days; you can move it freely and go back with Reset to Shopify traffic. If a verified Shopify figure exists, tiers that are too small for it can't be selected.

Plan & usage also shows your current usage: Visitors this month and Leads this month. The visitor limit is based on PopUplift's own counter, not on the Shopify recommendation.

Monthly or yearly

  • Monthly Flex (monthly): you pay your tier's monthly price as a minimum. If you grow beyond your tier within a billing period, Shopify automatically charges exactly the difference to the next tier — up to a cap you see and approve when subscribing. Your popups keep running.
  • Fixed Monthly (if offered instead of Flex): a fixed monthly price without automatic extra charges.
  • Fixed Annual (yearly): billed once a year after the trial, without extra charges. Yearly plans are not refunded when you switch or cancel. Moving to a higher yearly plan needs a new approval in Shopify; moving down takes effect at the end of the current year.

On every paid plan: more visitors than your tier covers never stop your popups — the limit only determines which plan fits.

Cancelling

In Settings, on the plan card, via Cancel subscription. The confirmation dialog tells you whether the subscription ends immediately or at the end of the current billing period; in the latter case the card shows the date. Once the subscription has ended, you fall back to Free: below 5,000 visitors your popups keep running; above that, PopUplift pauses them — with a banner, never silently. Nothing is deleted.
