Reports and revenue — what PopUplift measures and how it counts
PopUplift shows you three things: how many visitors see a popup, how many sign up, and what revenue comes in through popup codes. This article explains where the numbers are and — just as important — what they mean and what they don't.
Where to find which number
| Place | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Home | overview across all popups: views, signups, signup rate, revenue and orders, revenue over time and per reward |
| Popups | every popup with its numbers for the last 30 days |
| A popup's detail page | Popup performance: views, leads, revenue, the step-by-step funnel and the quiz answers |
| Reports | the reports for comparing and exporting (see below) |
| Leads | every collected contact with consent and delivery status, searchable and exportable as CSV (columns in Consent and DPA) |
Almost everywhere you can pick the period: Last 7 days, Last 30 days (default) or Last 90 days. Revenue, funnel and quiz answers always use the same window.
The Reports page
Reports holds three reports, each with a period and popup filter and Export CSV:
- Survey answers — how visitors answered each quiz question, with the share of every answer.
- Performance by survey answer — what the visitors behind each answer did next: signups and signup rate. Orders are not linked to individual answers, so there is no revenue here.
- Reward performance — codes issued and redeemed, redemption rate, orders and revenue per reward and popup.
Two cards lead to where the performance numbers live: Popup performance opens the popup list, A/B test performance opens A/B tests (more in A/B tests).
The basics
- Views — how often a popup was actually shown in your shop.
- Signups / leads — signups through the popup.
- Signup rate — signups divided by views.
Revenue: counted through the code
PopUplift attributes an order to a popup when it is paid and contains a discount code from that popup. It counts the order value before refunds. In detail:
- Unique codes belong to exactly one popup lead. When they redeem their code, the order sits with the right popup — unambiguous and verifiable.
- One fixed code for everyone belongs to the popup currently using it live. Every paid order with that code counts — even if the code was also shared through other channels. For clean numbers, use a code only for the popup.
- Several PopUplift codes in one order: all of them count as redeemed, but the order value counts only once — for the most recently issued code.
- Orders in several currencies are not added together; the display points this out.
- Until the first paid order with a popup code arrives, the revenue display stays empty and says that it starts with the first such order.
What this number is not: proof that the order wouldn't have happened without the popup, and it doesn't cover purchases without a code. Someone who saw the popup and then bought without a code doesn't appear here. In return, code attribution is unambiguous — it only counts what demonstrably went through a popup code.
Influenced revenue (coming soon)
A second view counts orders without a PopUplift code from customers who signed up in a popup in the 30 days before the order (matched by customer account or email). It is not yet enabled for all shops.
- It is the order value at the time of the order, before refunds and cancellations; orders with a value of 0 are not counted.
- It is influenced, not extra revenue: it also includes buyers who would have ordered anyway.
- An order with a PopUplift code counts only as code revenue, so the two numbers never overlap.
Why numbers can differ
- Shopify Analytics counts visitors and revenue by its own rules; a popup view is not a store visit.
- Klaviyo counts profiles and list members. With double opt-in, a contact only joins the list after confirming; PopUplift counts the signup in the popup.
- PopUplift does not subtract refunds.
