Smart Rewards — test 2–3 offers, one consistent offer per visitor

A Smart Reward is a set of two or three of your normal rewards. PopUplift splits new visitors evenly between them, and every visitor keeps the same offer — the same code and the same welcome email — on every visit. You compare the results and decide yourself which offer to keep.

Creating a Smart Reward

  1. Open Rewards and choose Create Smart Reward (the card with the ✦). You also find it in Create reward.
  2. Pick 2–3 normal rewards. Under each name you see what it gives, for example 15% off · unique codes · expires after 30 days. The rewards need different codes and the same product eligibility and minimum order.
  3. Choose the default reward. The editor previews your popup with it.
  4. Leave Keep this set paused on to prepare the set, or switch it off and confirm I approve these rewards… to start it for new visitors.
  5. Attach the set to your popup as its reward and publish the popup.

If you don't see Smart Reward, it is not enabled for your shop yet — email support@popuplift.com.

What your visitors see

Each visitor gets exactly one of the offers, assigned evenly and at random, and keeps it. The claim code always matches that offer.

Write the popup so it fits every offer: use Insert reward text in the editor instead of a fixed value like "10% off". The reward text shows the name of the visitor's own offer, so give your rewards names that state the offer ("15% off your first order"). If the popup text promises a fixed percentage, the reward step warns you.

  • Sign-up form, email quiz and code element show and claim the visitor's offer.
  • Scratch card: the prize under the foil must be the reward text, so each visitor uncovers their own offer. If the prize is fixed text like "10% off", publishing stops and names the card. Select the scratch card in the editor and choose Show each visitor’s offer here: the prize becomes the reward text, the label above it like "You won!" stays. The prize may contain only the reward text, no fixed offer beside it. After scratching, the next steps and the welcome email use the same offer.
  • Spin to win: the set decides the prize. The segments show the set's offers in turn, the wheel lands on the visitor's own offer, and the next steps use that offer. Weights and segment texts do not apply; the editor shows the offers instead. The wheel needs at least one segment per offer, and no segment may give a different reward; otherwise publishing stops and names the wheel. No segment may close the popup or leave the page either, because every visitor wins an offer. A returning visitor lands on the same offer.
  • A set on a single element: a code element can carry its own Smart Reward, also when the popup has a normal reward. Select the code element and choose the set as Reward for this code element. Name the offer with Insert dynamic content: choose Smart Reward: name of the set as the source and Insert offer text. This offer text shows the visitor's own offer from that set, before the code is claimed. A popup can use two different sets this way; each visitor gets one offer from each. The popup's reward text then can't be used in the same popup, and email delivery always sends the popup's own reward. A set can't be given by a scratch card's or a wheel segment's own reward action or by a lesson, and not yet in an A/B test. A reward that is one of the set's offers can't also be given on its own in the same popup.
  • A/B tests: give the set as the popup's reward and it runs in every variant, also in different formats — for example a scratch card in A and a wheel in B. Each visitor keeps one offer whichever variant they see, so the test compares the format, not the offers. A set in only one variant, a different set per variant or a set on a code element in a test is not available; the test start or publishing names it.

Reading the results

Open the set in Rewards to see Results by reward: visitors, signups, claims, orders and — after a 30-day window — paid revenue per visitor for each offer and set version. Only visitors who agreed to analytics and marketing are counted. Assigned counts every visitor who received the offer, whether they saw it or not; it is not the visitor count.

With Break down by you see the same numbers per popup, per A/B test variant or per format (wheel, scratch card, code or form). A visitor counts where they first saw the offer. Not attributed covers visitors seen before this breakdown existed and A/B views the server could not confirm. Assignments are shown per popup only, because the variant is known once a visitor sees the popup.

  • Revenue attribution unavailable means revenue cannot be traced to one offer. With a fixed code everyone shares the same code, so an order cannot be assigned to a visitor's offer — use rewards with unique codes to measure revenue. If order tracking for discount codes is not active for your shop yet, the note says so.
  • 30-day outcome window still open means the numbers are not final yet.

PopUplift never declares or applies a winner on its own. To keep one offer, choose it under Offer for new visitors and save: every new visitor then gets that offer, and visitors who already have an offer keep theirs. The reward card shows New visitors get "…".

Pausing — and what it does to live popups

A paused set gives no offer. A published popup that uses it is then not shown on your store — PopUplift never silently swaps in another reward. Before you pause a set that a live popup uses, PopUplift names those popups and asks you to confirm. The popup list and the popup page mark such a popup as Offline until you start the set again or choose another reward.

To stop splitting offers without taking a popup offline, keep the set running and choose an Offer for new visitors instead.

How PopUplift differs from "AI offers"

Some tools pick an offer per visitor with a model that guesses purchase intent and shift traffic automatically, without showing how. Smart Rewards are transparent and manual on purpose: an even split, one stable offer per visitor, measured results per offer, and you decide.
